Resilience Training
“Don’t just toughen up”: Resilience Training that Reduces Burnout, Protects Wellbeing, and Helps Your People Do Their Best Work
For too long, resilience training has sent the wrong message: push through. Work harder. Don’t take things personally. Just toughen up. But real resilience isn’t about enduring more pressure. It’s not about ‘coping’. It’s about helping setting boundaries, managing the emotional load, and staying confident and well, even in demanding roles.
As a qualified therapist and trainer, I help your people do exactly that with psychologically-informed, interactive resilience training for corporate teams, NGOs and government organisations to reduce stress, prevent burnout, and improve performance.
As seen (and heard!) in The Guardian and on Radio New Zealand.
The Problem With ‘Resilience Training’
Here’s the thing: the problem isn’t that your people aren’t resilient enough.
It’s that they’ve been carrying too much, for too long - without the right tools to protect themselves. And the consequences are devastating. Across the UK:
964,000 workers experienced work-related stress, depression or anxiety last year.
Millions of working days are lost every year due to stress.
Burnout and disengagement are rising across sectors.
Behind these numbers are people who are:
Taking responsibility for things outside their control
Overthinking difficult interactions
Struggling to switch off after work
Feeling overwhelmed by competing demands
Losing confidence and energy because they don’t know how to keep going.
Traditional resilience training teaches people to tolerate more - but that approach will only feed into the cycle of burnout and attrition. Resilience training with me, a qualified therapist, shows people how to protect themselves properly.
Let’s talk about how.
What Will Your Team Take Away From My Resilience Training?
After our workshop, your team will be able to:
Understand what is - and isn’t - their responsibility to take on.
Reframe unhelpful internal ‘narratives’ that contribute to burnout.
Set healthy, professional boundaries confidently.
Take feedback seriously without taking it personally.
Stop overthinking and spiralling into anxiety.
Stay calm and confident in challenging situations.
Know how to take care of themselves with techniques that really work.
How It Works
I spend time getting my training right for every team in every organisation and can offer options to suit your budget. Choose from:
Workshops from an hour-long ‘Lunch and Learn’ to a full day.
Sessions tailored to teams, from leaders to new starters.
Training delivered virtually, or in person, anywhere in the UK.
Follow up coaching for individuals or small groups
My workshops are practical and interactive, with activities to get involved in right from the start (no death by PowerPoint!).
So your team won’t just understand the ideas; they’ll know how to go and use them, straight away.
About Your Trainer
Hi, I’m Nikki Allen.
I’m a trainer, qualified BACP-registered therapist and published author. For more than 15 years, I’ve run workshops for organisations like the UNEP-WCMC, the Department for Science and Innovation, Bauer Media and Savills and as Head of Training for global language consultancy The Writer.
My thoughts on resilience, boundary setting and self-care have been recognised nationally and internationally, including features in The Guardian and Radio New Zealand.
But my understanding of resilience doesn’t come only from my professional credentials. As a neurodivergent woman who’s had my own struggles with mental wellness, self-esteem and anxiety, I’ve been on my own lengthy journey to discover the things that truly help me to not only cope, but to thrive.
So my experience is personal as well as professional: I’ve learned the hard way how tough life - and work - can be when we don’t have a toolkit to draw on to build us up, keep us safe, and help us do the work we’re meant to do.
Your Questions, Answered
-
Leaders, managers and teams who want to improve communication, reduce conflict and build better working relationships.
-
Yes. I can customise every workshop to your organisation’s needs. But if you’d like to discuss a lower cost, non-tailored option, we can do that too.
-
Yes, very. I believe people learn best by doing, and trying things out. Participants practise these skills in a safe, supportive environment, and they’ll have an interactive toolkit to take away afterwards.
-
Yes. Both virtual and in-person sessions are available. Though I’d always encourage an in-person session for this particular topic, as it means I can offer people more individual feedback.
-
For an in-person workshop, I can run the session for anything up to 12 people. Online, we can go up to 20.
-
My rates start from £595.00 for a 60-minute virtual workshop.
-
It depends on my availability, but I can usually fit a new project in within 2-4 weeks, sometimes sooner. Just get in touch and I’ll let you know!
